Entry-Level Gate Access Watcher- South Jersey

 

We’re looking for an Entry-level Gate Access Watcher in South Jersey to be a critical set of eyes at the jobsite. If you’re alert, dependable, organized, and safety-minded, this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and make an impact. You’ll help monitor site access and support a safe, secure work environment for crews working around energized substations and switchyards.

The Gate Access Watcher is responsible for supporting site access control by verifying the identity and required credentials of personnel entering designated sites. The Gate Access Watcher ensures that individuals accessing the site possess the appropriate identification, safety, security, and access badges and are authorized to enter.

The Gate Access Watcher serves as a visible site representative and works with contractor personnel, project teams, safety personnel, and security personnel to address access, identification, and credentialing issues.

 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Site Access and Verification

  • Monitor and control site access in accordance with established site requirements.
  • Verify the identity of personnel requesting access to the site.
  • Request and verify required identification, safety, security, and access badges.
  • Confirm that personnel have the appropriate authorization to access the site.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing the site.
  • Escalate access or authorization concerns to the appropriate project, safety, or security personnel.
  • Maintain awareness of individuals entering and exiting the site.

 

ISNetworld Badge Verification

  • Request contractor personnel to present their ISN badges upon mobilization to the site, during tailboards and similar meetings, and as necessary throughout site activities.
  • Scan ISN badges using the ISN mobile application to verify that badges are valid.
  • Confirm that required qualifications reflected in the worker's ISN profile are appropriate for the assigned work.
  • Coordinate with the contractor, project team, and safety team to resolve ISN badge or qualification issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues as appropriate and exercise Stop The Job authority when required by site procedures.

Background Check Verification

  • Request contractor personnel to present applicable PSE&G Background Check Verification Cards (BCVCs).
  • Verify BCVCs upon mobilization and at other appropriate times.
  • Coordinate with contractor, project, safety, and corporate security personnel to resolve verification issues.
  • Escort personnel when specifically directed while background check or access issues are being resolved.

Communication and Coordination

  • Communicate access and credentialing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Work cooperatively with contractors and project personnel to resolve routine access issues.
  • Maintain accurate awareness of site access requirements and follow applicable procedures.
  • Report unusual, unauthorized, or potentially unsafe activity to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Two years of full-time and continuous work experience
  • Experience working in a safety or security environment

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction
  • Construction Industry Experience
  • Knowledge/general understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively monitor site access and identify unauthorized or questionable access.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing identification and credentials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with contractors, visitors, and project personnel.
  • Ability to use a mobile device and applicable applications for badge verification.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when determining whether an access issue requires escalation.
  • Ability to follow established safety, security, and access procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence at a site access point.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel to assigned project
  • Stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Use of phone for communication
  • Extensive manual dexterity (keyboarding, mouse, phone)
  • Occasional exposure to noise and/or vibrations
  • Occasionally walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally reach (overhead), handle and feel with hands and arms
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds
