The Safety Specialist in Rio Grande, NJ will support a large-scale construction project focused on heavy equipment operations and excavation activities. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and USACE EM 385-1-1 safety standards, while promoting a strong safety culture on site.

• Oversee daily safety operations on an active construction site
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements
• Conduct daily safety meetings, audits, and site inspections
• Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in real time
• Support incident investigations and complete required documentation
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce site standards
• Assist with development and implementation of site-specific safety plans

• OSHA 30 required
• EM 385-1-1 training required (24-hour minimum; 40-hour preferred)
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
• OSHA 510 a plus
• Experience on USACE or government projects is highly preferred
• Experience supporting construction projects involving excavation, heavy equipment, and sitework
