The key functions of the Senior Project Safety Adviser will involve the management of significant high-risk activities ensuring that best safety practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, as well as improve the overall safety culture. 


  • Oversee all aspects of a complex electrical structures and construction project ensuring OSHA compliance
  • Consult with executive management on contractor safety plans and ensure implementation in place for each project. 
  • Drive continuous improvement across all construction projects
  • Provide review, and oversight, of construction Health & Safety management procedures
  • Attend safety department and management meetings, training workshops, and daily activity briefings
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessment and evaluation across all construction projects. 
  • Conduct daily audits on aspects of construction management 
  • Complete accident reports and conduct accident investigations
  • Ensure all personnel wear their personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Oversee all subcontractors and contractors ensuring competency 
  • Inspect power tools and heavy equipment
  • Continually encouraging, and promoting, Health & Safety initiatives aimed at influencing positive safety behavior on all projects


  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior role with formal qualification in construction health and safety management
  • Extensive experience in contractor communications, and liaising with design teams, and other project professionals
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety related field required
  • Advanced experience with complex electrical structures required 
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) helpful 
  • First Aid CPR, AED
  • NFPA 70E 
  • Owner's Representative experience required
  • Experience writing Corporate Health and Safety Plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills 
  • Qualified candidates local to Des Moines, IA are preferred, relocation may also be considered for candidates outside the Des Moines, IA area. 

Experience required in the following areas:

  • Construction safety
  • Safety oversight of complex electrical structures
  • Contractor safety oversight 
  • Data Center
