Responsibilities

The key functions of the Safety Manager are to support specific project needs and ensure that best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and an improved safety culture and performance is delivered.

  • Oversee all aspects of a commercial construction project ensuring OSHA compliance
  • Conduct daily safety meetings
  • Complete accident reports and conduct accident investigations
  • Ensure all personnel wear their personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Daily safety audits and inspections
  • Oversee all subcontractors and contractors
  • Inspect power tools and heavy equipment
  • Write job hazard analysis (JHA) and health & safety plans (HASP)
  • Oversee Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation

Qualifications

HazTek Safety Management is hiring for full-time, long-term opportunities within our Mid-Atlantic Region of Maryland - Virginia

Qualifications and experience may vary for each opportunity below you will find a list of common qualification we seek in our Safety Professionals. 

  • 5+ years direct construction safety experience required
  • OSHA 30 hour in construction certification
  • OSHA 510 and or 500 
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • BCSP credentials 
  • Degree in a safety related field 
  • Advance knowledge of construction safety standards
  • Experience developing a Site Specific Safety Plan
  • Experience developing a Corporate Health and Safety Plan
  • Must have advanced experience in Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation classes
  • Owners Rep experience 
  • Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Must have great verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to represent HazTek professionally; treating all trades and management with respect 
  • Ability to mentor, coach and educate on multiple safety topics across many types of trades
  • Candidates must reside in Maryland and or Virginia area to be considered for these full-time long-term opportunities 
  • Ability to drive up to 50 miles per day will be required 
  • Ability to for overnight travel is helpful but not necessary
