Responsibilities

The key functions of the Controlling Energy Marshall is a significant part of the construction and commissioning efforts, ensuring focus and compliance for all types of energy isolation. This is an assurance role that helps ensure the vendors and constractors' Energy Isolation Program meets and exceeds all standards and policies. 

 

  • Oversee all aspects of a complex electrical structures and construction project ensuring OSHA compliance
  • Establish and manages an Energy and Isolation Program that will be implemented throughout the project
  • Participate in High Risk Activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with Energy Isolation. 
  • Ensures approval process for proposed Energy Isolation procedures is in place
  • Work with the Authorizing Energy Marshal to establish a permitting process
  • Ensures all SoW's, MOPS, and Scripts are reviewed and all sources of energy are established. 
  • Determine if a group or individual LOTO will be required
  • Ensures process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing the work. 
  • Serves as an independent authority for stopping all unsafe work practices regarding Energy Isolation
  • Drive continuous improvement across all construction projects
  • Provide review, and oversight, of construction Health & Safety management procedures
  • Attend safety department and management meetings, training workshops, and daily activity briefings
  • Continually encouraging, and promoting, Health & Safety initiatives aimed at influencing positive safety behavior on all projects.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of solid Safety Management in Electrical Construction required or 15+ years working as a Master Electrician Supervisor on complex projects
  • Advanced working knowledge of SPS-101 Energy Isolation guidelines
  • Must have experience working a data center build, or similar environment 
  • Extensive experience in contractor communications, and liaising with design teams, and other project professionals
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety related field preferred 
  • Electrician with a solid safety background is highly preferred 
  • Advanced experience with complex electrical structures required 
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) helpful 
  • First Aid CPR, AED
  • NFPA 70E 
  • Owner's Representative experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills 

Experience required in the following areas:

  • Construction safety
  • Electrical Safety 
  • Safety oversight of complex electrical structures
  • Contractor safety oversight 
  • Data Center
